St. Anne’s Konkan Kutaam – 21st Monthi festh Celebrations

On September 8, St. Anne’s Konkan Kutaam joyfully marked its 21st Monthi festh — a beloved tradition that has brought families together for over two decades. Monthi festh, the feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is both a time of devotion and a lively family festival, where members assemble in gratitude for God’s blessings and for our Holy Mother. This celebration also uplifts the dignity and worth of the girl child — inspired by the birth of Mary, a beacon of hope and renewal. Just as Mary’s nativity ushered light into the world, every girl holds the promise of a brighter tomorrow. On this special day, the members with their families honored their daughters, celebrating them, supporting their dreams, and reaffirming the devotion to equality and respect. The festivities began with a solemn Mass, invoking blessings for all families and for the well being of every girl child. Traditional Konkani hymns graced the air, followed by the blessing of new paddy (Novem)—a symbol of gratitude for the harvest and God’s providence—and then followed breakfast for all attendees. The joy and warmth of togetherness were palpable, reflecting the deep unity and love within the Konkani community at Marathahalli. The association now looks ahead with renewed hope. During this feast, we recommit ourselves to creating a society in which every child — especially every girl — is treasured and empowered. May we continue to cultivate values of compassion, dignity, and joy within our homes and beyond.
