St. Anne's Konkan Kutam Celebrates Monthi Festh at Marathahalli

Marathahalli, 8th September: St. Anne's Konkan Kutam (SAKK) joyfully celebrated the traditional Monthi Festh on September 8th at St. Anne's Church, Marathahalli. The celebration, which holds deep significance for the Konkani Catholic community, marked the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the blessing of the new harvest.

The day began as members of SAKK gathered near the church grotto for the blessing of the newly harvested paddy, symbolizing gratitude for the bountiful crops. The faithful venerated infant Mary with flowers, following the cherished tradition of showering flowers on the feast day.

The Holy Mass was a true highlight of the celebration, led with reverence by the parish priest, Fr. Holenston D'Souza, accompanied by guest priest Fr. Roman Fernandez. The congregation came together in heartfelt prayer, offering thanks for the blessings of the year and seeking Mother Mary's intercession for peace, prosperity, and divine grace.

Following the mass, the blessed paddy (novi kanshi) was distributed to all attendees as a gesture of sharing the joy of the harvest season. The celebrations concluded with a fellowship meal (Novem Jevann) in the church hall, where members of the community gathered to share a traditional meal, creating an atmosphere of warmth and togetherness among the parishioners.
