Blood Donation Camp – 6th April 2025



The Bangalore Konkani Catholic Sangh (BKCS), in collaboration with St. Anthony’s Friary Church, Madiwala, Hosur Road, organized a Blood Donation Camp on 6th April 2025. The event commenced at 7:30 a.m. with a brief inaugural and felicitation ceremony held in a classroom above the church office.

The occasion was graced by several distinguished guests, including Rev. Fr. Tony, Associate Director – Finance, St. John’s Medical College Hospital; our Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Prashanth Fernandes, OFM; Rev. Fr. Simon, OFM, Counsellor; Dr. Fulton D’Souza, Professor and Head of the Department of Paediatrics; Dr. Parimala, Consultant, Department of Haematology and Transfusion at St. John’s Hospital; along with BKCS Executive Committee members and past Presidents.

BKCS Joint Secretary, Mrs. Dorine Rasquinha, extended a warm and heartfelt welcome to all dignitaries and attendees, expressing sincere appreciation to Rev. Fr. Tony, Rev. Fr. Prashanth Fernandes, Rev. Fr. Simon, Dr. Fulton, Dr. Parimala, the team from St. John’s Hospital, as well as BKCS members and former Presidents for their presence and continued support.

The primary objective of the camp was to support those in need within the wider community. The initiative was made possible through the dedicated efforts of St. John’s Medical College Hospital, led by Dr. Fulton D’Souza—a valued BKCS member—and supported by a team of enthusiastic BKCS volunteers who assisted with various organizational responsibilities.

In his address, Rev. Fr. Tony lauded BKCS and its office bearers for their commendable initiative, particularly during the spiritually significant Lenten season. He also extended his gratitude to St. John’s Hospital for their unwavering partnership. Rev. Fr. Prashanth Fernandes congratulated the organizers for their consistent dedication to community service and their efforts in fostering a culture of giving.

This year marked the 11th consecutive year that BKCS has conducted this noble initiative, underscoring its steadfast commitment to social responsibility and compassionate outreach.

The camp concluded around 2:30 p.m., with a total of 65 donors stepping forward to contribute blood. Each donor was presented with a certificate in recognition of their invaluable contribution.

The event was a resounding success, exemplifying the enduring spirit of unity, compassion, and selfless service that defines the mission of BKCS.
