FKCA Kreedothsav 2026: A Celebration of Unity, Sportsmanship, and Community Spirit
Bengaluru, 1 February 2026: The HMT Grounds in Jalahalli, Bengaluru, served as a lively venue for FKCA Kreedothsav 2026 on Sunday. The annual sports festival showcased the spirit of unity, teamwork, and sportsmanship, bringing together participants and spectators from across the city for a day of enthusiastic competition and shared camaraderie.
The FKCA Kreedothsav 2026 opened with a formal inaugural ceremony, compered by Kiran D’Souza. The event began with a prayer led by Rev. Dr. Fr. Francis D’Almeida, who invoked blessings for the smooth conduct of the sports day. FKCA Chairman Anthony Gonsalves welcomed the gathering, which included Immediate and Past Chairpersons. In his address, he underscored the role of the event in strengthening community bonds and promoting physical well-being through sports.
Chairman Anthony Gonsalves formally welcomed the Chief Guest, renowned international triple jumper Joyline Mural Lobo, who graced the occasion. A national champion with more than 20 medals to her credit, Joyline has represented India at several Asian and senior international athletics championships and is both a state and Olympic record holder.
Firmin D’Souza, the Guest of Honour, also graced the occasion. A former Head Coach of India’s Under-15 Men’s and Women’s National Football Teams, he is the youngest coach to have guided India to a SAFF Cup title. He holds UEFA/FA and AFC ‘A’ coaching licences and brings extensive international coaching experience.
The ceremonial torch was carried by Synora Ashel Thoras, Volleyball Champion from Konkani Samudai Jayanagar, Joywin Jerome Fernandes, Cycling Champion from CKA, Dasarahalli, Elvin Andrews D’Souza, Basketball Champion from Sezari Bommanahalli and Samson A, Football Champion from HFKCA Ramamurthynagar, who together led the procession.
The oath-taking ceremony, led by Lead – Jacintha D’Souza together with athletes and dignitaries, reaffirmed a shared commitment to fair play, respect, and sportsmanship.
The Managing Committee for the day comprised Jacintha D’Souza as Lead and Rayan Miranda, both from SAKK Marathahalli, along with Edward Crasta of KCS Yeshwanthpur. The inaugural proceedings were efficiently coordinated by Joint Secretary Ida Sequeira with the support of volunteers from KCA Mathikere. Registration for the initial events was smoothly managed by a team led by Cultural Secretary Nishal Preetham D’Souza, assisted by volunteers from KCWA R T Nagar, while the conduct of the day-long events was overseen by Paul Rodrigues with the support of volunteers from various associations.
A major highlight of the event was the Rolling Shield, sponsored by the Past Chairman Silvian Noronha in memory of his parents, Mr. Cyril Ambrose and Mrs. Flossy Noronha who has also pledged to continue contributing the shield every year.
One of the event’s key highlights was the introduction of Tug of War, which generated an incredible surge of team spirit and excitement. Organized for the first time, the sport saw enthusiastic participation from all 12 associations, adding a new dimension of energy.
Chairman Anthony Gonsalves, who also oversaw the event’s infrastructure requirements, expressed his gratitude in the vote of thanks. He acknowledged the collective efforts of the Office Bearers, Managing Committee, participating associations and the Presidents, Secretaries and volunteers. Special appreciation was extended to Medicine Custodian Judith D’Souza, Anthony D’Souza for compering the day’s proceedings and emcee Kiran D’Souza. A special appreciation extends to General Secretary, Zaveena Lobo, for her exceptional efforts in taking complete charge of the sports event. Her effective cooperation with all associates and her successful management of the event’s organization and coordination were instrumental in its smooth execution.
The Jury of Honour, led by Vice Chairman William Pinto along with Sylvester D’Souza, Edward Anand D’Souza and Silvian Noronha, were thanked for their guidance and fair judgment throughout the competitions.
The Chairman also expressed his appreciation for the generous support of the event’s sponsors: Associated Hydro Pressings Pvt. Ltd. as Co-Sponsor, Southern Wood Packers for cricket, Brilliant Printers Pvt. Ltd. for throwball, Konkan – 3K Hospitality Pvt. Ltd. LLP for tug-of-war and relay events, Dawn HR Solutions Pvt. Ltd. for individual games, and Micro Mac Engineering for individual events. Several well-wishers and families were also acknowledged for their support.
Gratitude was also expressed to Blue Birds Caterers for their delectable meals, Vikram D’almeida, the photographer who captured every memorable moment, the sound and lighting team, and to Jacintha D’Souza and her team of Empires, whose selfless commitment ensured seamless execution of the event.
