In his address, Raymond D’Cunha eloquently described Konkani as a language that truly embodies the spirit of "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam," which translates to "the world is one family." He emphasized the unique nature of Konkani, a language that serves as the mother tongue for a diverse array of communities, including Christians, Muslims, Hindus, GSBs, Kharvis, and Siddis.

Raymond also reflected on the significance of August 20, 1992, a landmark day when Konkani was granted official recognition under the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution. He highlighted the pride and enthusiasm with which Konkani speakers across the globe celebrate this achievement.

A highlight of the evening was the release of "Ek Daktulem Iskall," a collection of Bengali children's stories translated into Konkani by the renowned writer Janet Vas. This cultural exchange underscored the inclusive and expansive nature of Konkani literature.

The event began with an opening prayer led by Fr. Lazer Chetan, Assistant Priest of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Jalahalli. Cultural programs, featuring performances by members of the Konkani community from Jalahalli Church and nearby regions, added vibrancy to the celebration together with enthusiastic poets showcasing their poetic prowess.
