On September 8, 2024, the Konkani Christian Association (KCA) of Kengeri Satellite Town, Bangalore, gathered joyfully at St. Francis of Assisi Church to celebrate the cherished Monthi Feast. This occasion, steeped in tradition and devotion, brought together parishioners and guests in a heartfelt expression of faith and community spirit.
The festivities began with a touching floral offering by children and KCA members, as they showered the statue of Mother Mary with flowers, symbolizing their devotion and love. The blessing of the Novem, a core tradition of the feast, followed, marking the significance of the celebration.
The Konkani Mass, celebrated by Rev. Fr. Henry D'Souza, Rev. Fr. Bazil (CAP), and Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Hrudayaraj, was a deeply spiritual experience that resonated with the entire congregation, fostering unity and shared faith among all who attended.
Following the Mass, the community gathered for the distribution of newly blessed corn, sugarcane, and a traditional festive lunch, adhering to the age-old customs of the Konkan region. The highlight of the meal was the variety of seven vegetable dishes, lovingly prepared in the homes of KCA members, with families coming together to contribute their culinary talents.
