St. Vincent Pallotti Church – SVP Konkani Kutamb Monthi Fest Celebration

The SVP Konkani Kutamb joyfully celebrated the Feast of Mother Mary on September 8 with all the rich traditions of the Mangalorean Konkani community. The day began with Rev. Fr. Jithesh D’Souza, Assistant Parish Priest of St. Vincent Pallotti Church, blessing the new corn. Afterwards, children offered flowers to the Infant Mary in a touching display of devotion.

A procession of priests, devotees and the blessed corn then made its way to the church. The Holy Eucharist was presided over by Rev. Fr. Dr. Albert Lewis, OFD, concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Joseph Fernandes (Parish Priest), Fr. Manohar Noronha, and Fr. Jithesh D’Souza. Traditional offerings—including rice mudo, coconut, fresh vegetables, and fruit—were presented at the offertory.

A large number of devotees from the Konkani community gathered to take part. The choir—Pallotiche Thaale—added to the worship with their melodious hymns and enhanced the solemnity of the celebration. After Communion, blessed corn was distributed to families. Following Mass, there was breakfast for all, along with sugarcane given out in the traditional manner.

Overall, it was a beautifully organized and deeply meaningful celebration—one that honoured our Konkani heritage and was appreciated by our own people and members of other communities alike.
