Monthi Festh Celebrations by Vijayanagar Konkani Catholic Association


On Sunday, September 8, 2024, the families of VKCA and the parish community of St. John the Baptist Church, Vijayanagar, gathered to joyously celebrate Monthi Festh, a feast honoring the Nativity of the beloved Blessed Virgin Mary. The celebrations commenced with a solemn Konkani Mass at 11:30 AM, led by Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Michael Antony, Rev. Fr. Prakash D’Cunha (OCD), and Rev. Fr. Melvin (OCD).

After the Mass, a lively cultural program took place, bringing the community together in celebration. The event was organized through the dedicated efforts of the parish office bearers, including President Oliver Sachin Quadras, Treasurer Nathalia Monis, Secretary Deepak Menezes, and Cultural Secretary Ranjith Sequeira. With over 150 attendees, the gathering was a great success.

Treasurer Nathalia Monis served as the gracious host for the event, which included lively performances by the parish children, featuring traditional dances and Konkani songs. Rev. Fr. Michael Antony and Rev. Fr. Prakash D’Cunha shared meaningful messages on the significance of Monti Fest, further deepening the spiritual experience.

President Oliver Sachin Quadras addressed the congregation, highlighting the importance of the feast and sharing plans for future parish events. Following the cultural program, the traditional "Novem Vorn" was blessed by Rev. Fr. Prakash D’Cunha, and the festive "Novem Jevan" meal was blessed by Rev. Fr. Michael Antony.

Secretary Deepak Menezes extended a heartfelt vote of thanks to all who contributed, and Treasurer Nathalia Monis gave a report on the sponsors who made the event possible. The celebration concluded with a fun-filled housie-housie game and lively baila dance, leaving attendees with cherished memories of the day.
