USWAS SHIRVA's "KALA SANGAM" Delights Dubai with Unforgettable Evening of Music and Comedy



The Sheikh Rashid Auditorium at The Indian High School in Dubai was filled to capacity on September 28, 2024, as USWAS SHIRVA celebrated its third consecutive sold-out event, KALA SANGAM, with over 1,500 enthusiastic attendees. Presented in association with Precious Parties & Entertainment LLC, the event showcased an inspiring fusion of music and comedy, The Guests began arriving at 5:30 PM, warmly welcomed by members of the USWAS Committee, who ensured that everyone was comfortably seated. The program kicked off with a prayer and the USWAS theme song, led by Roshan Menezes. A poignant tribute was paid to the late Rev. Fr. Valerian Mendonca, composer of the USWAS theme song, and to founding member Late Ivan D’Souza, with a special video montage dedicated to another founding member, Sharan D’Souza, who recently passed away. Flowers were presented in remembrance by Sharan’s wife Elvira D’Souza, Fr Derick D’Souza, Godwin Aranha, Franky D’Souza, Benedict Pinto, Alfred Britto, Manoj Menezes and President Joel Tauro.

Vernon D’Souza, with his engaging humor and warmth, opened the program, instantly capturing the audience's attention and setting an energetic tone for the evening. As the lights pulsed in rhythm with the vibrant beats, excitement filled the auditorium, preparing the crowd for an unforgettable experience.

The evening's entertainment began with Carol Danthy, whose soulful voice resonated throughout the venue. She collaborated with other artists in a series of duets, showcasing her versatility as she harmonized beautifully with Ashwin D’Costa and Maxim Pereira.

Ashwin, a romantic and talented performer, took the stage next, captivating the audience with his powerful vocals and dynamic dance moves. His electrifying performance set a high standard for the evening, leaving a lasting impression on all present.

Maxim Pereira, known as the Evergreen Yuva-Pratiba and Melody Star, delighted attendees with his original compositions that combined catchy melodies and meaningful themes. His performance was a memorable highlight of the night.

The talented Lavita Lobo set the stage ablaze with her incredible vocal range, singing in six different languages. Her ability to effortlessly transition between genres kept the audience enthralled, especially during her captivating duets with Ashwin.

Comedian Nitesh Shetty, known for his appearances on "The Great India Laughter Challenge," brought laughter to the crowd with his relatable humor, touching on everyday life and cultural quirks in India, blending storytelling with punchlines that resonated with the audience.

The dynamic BAND V6, led by Deepak Machado and supported by talented musicians as Prashanth Sequeira, Vincent Rodrigues, Floyd Pereira, Ian Saldanha and Sameer Purakkotagath created a powerful musical backdrop, their rhythms enhanced by OCEAN EVENTS’ dancers, whose vibrant performances added a visual flair to the evening. The interplay of lights on the stage created a stunning atmosphere, which was perfectly managed by Broadway Events & Production.

Fr. Victor Fernandes, the spiritual director of the Konkani Community at St. Mary’s Church in Dubai, was honored by the event organizers. Fr Derick D’Souza along with President Joel Tauro, appreciated and acknowledged the contributions of various sponsors, including Frenica Marine Electro Mech Cont L.L.C (Event Sponsor). Many individuals and companies supported the event in the capacity of sponsors. Joel Tauro expressed gratitude to all who supported the event, which brought together a diverse audience from across the UAE, GCC, and even India.

The overwhelming support from attendees, who filled the venue with applause and enthusiasm, transformed KALA SANGAM into a celebration of music and community spirit. The event featured a carefully curated setlist that blended nostalgic classics with contemporary hits, ensuring a memorable experience for all.
