Karaval Milan Dubai New Committee 2023-2025

Karaval Milan Announces New Committee for 2023-2025 Term: Elevating Community Engagement and Cultural Enrichment

Karaval Milan, the esteemed association representing parishioners of the Udupi diocese residing in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), proudly commemorates 23 years of impactful service, marked by its commitment to fostering cultural, sports, and charitable endeavors within the community. Renowned for its unwavering dedication to the Udupi diocese, Karaval Milan has consistently orchestrated a plethora of community-building events, sporting competitions, and charitable initiatives.

In a landmark moment for the organization, Melwyn Cornelio, a dynamic youth leader and former president of the St. Xavier’s College Union in Mumbai, has been unanimously elected as the new president of Karaval Milan for the term spanning 2023-2025. Cornelio, hailing from Kakkunje, Kallianpur, brings with him a wealth of experience and a profound commitment to community leadership. He succeeds the esteemed outgoing president, Charles Mascarenhas, from Kolalgiri, whose exemplary stewardship has been instrumental in steering Karaval Milan towards its current stature.

Joining Cornelio in the executive ranks is Prakash Rebello from Anagally, Kundapur, assuming the role of vice-president, alongside Goldina D’Souza of Perampalli parish, who takes charge as the youth convenor. Additionally, Alban D'Silva from Trasi, Kundapur, assumes responsibilities as the treasurer, completing the ensemble of dedicated leaders poised to guide Karaval Milan towards its envisioned goals.

The election of the new committee was conducted under the adept guidance of Karaval Milan’s esteemed director, Wilson D'Sa, and its revered founder president, Charles Mascarenhas.

The induction ceremony for the newly appointed office-bearers and members took place amidst the grandeur of the Monthi Festh Celebration on 10th September 2023, in Dubai, a momentous occasion attended by esteemed dignitaries and community members alike. Notably, Alban D'Silva, a distinguished member of Karaval Milan, was honored during the event for his exceptional contributions to the community, being recognized as the Outstanding Parishioner of St. Mary’s Church Dubai by the esteemed Bishop of UAE.

In his inaugural address as president, Melwyn Cornelio expressed heartfelt gratitude to the members for their unwavering trust and pledged to uphold the rich legacy of Karaval Milan while embarking on a journey to new horizons. Emphasizing a vision centered around fostering greater engagement amongst the youth through sports and cultural initiatives, Cornelio underscored the organization’s commitment to catering to the evolving needs and aspirations of the younger generation within the Udupi diocese community residing in the UAE.

The Monthi Festh celebrations, steeped in tradition and cultural significance, were joyously observed at the residence of Karaval Milan Director Wilson D'Sa in Dubai, serving as a poignant reminder of the organization's enduring commitment to preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of the Udupi diocese.

As Karaval Milan embarks on this new chapter under the dynamic leadership of Melwyn Cornelio and his esteemed team, the organization remains steadfast in its mission to serve as a beacon of community solidarity and cultural enrichment for parishioners of the Udupi diocese across the UAE.
